Poem

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

I read a photographer named Alec Soth’s blog a lot.

He posted this poem and it feels so relevant on so many levels to my current feelings surrounding my university educational experience. Standardized eduction is a bizarre concept…

When I Heard the Learned Astronomer
by Walt Whitman

When I heard the learn’d astronomer,
When the proofs, the figures, were ranged in columns before me,
When I was shown the charts and diagrams, to add, divide,
and measure them,
When I sitting heard the astronomer where he lectured with
much applause in the lecture-room,
How soon unaccountable I became tired and sick,
Till rising and gliding out I wander’d off by myself,
In the mystical moist night-air, and from time to time,
Look’d up in perfect silence at the stars.

Fright Night

Friday, October 26th, 2007

The other night I went to the fair. It’s all about halloween and getting scared. It’s been a long time since I went to the fair, so much fun…

Vancouver Premier

Saturday, October 20th, 2007

I went to a premier for Idea and Fashion show. I didn’t really shoot many photos. And i didn’t do any good ones either…

Anyway, Joystick sponsored it. but i didn’t really want to do a product giveaway like every other brand, so i spent the afternoon painting a picture to give away.

Fresh in Calgary.

calgarygirltalkcrowd

The first night I got there I might have not gone to the movie premieres. Well, maybe not for the entire time. I ditched out early and went to a concert.

calgarygirltalk

I saw this guy play who’s named Greg Gillis. Some people call him Girl Talk.

calgaryctrain

I shot this photo too. I thought it was pretty, maybe you do too.

calgarybuildings

This is from the next day. Some buildings in downtown Calgary.

calgaryhouse

Another building in Calgary, but not downtown.

calgarytheaterview

This is where the Freshtival took place, ‘The Uptown Theater’

calgarymoviecrowd

calgarycodypopcorn

Between showings Cody Lynge of Orage was playing some bizarre popcorn game with Michelle Parker. It got pretty intense.

calgarymichellepopcorn

I’m so glad Michelle won. Because if she didn’t I would have never witnessed this air punch. And it’s pretty amazing.

calgaryjpitalianguy

I took this picture of JP.

calgaryitalianguy

And then I took this picture of a picture of this Italian guy. They’re almost the same. I thought that was funny.

calgaryitalianguyshugs

I also took this picture of a picture of these two Italian guys together.

calgarysteveandsara

And then I took this picture of Steve and Sara, it’s almost the same and pretty funny too.

Steve and Sara put this event on. Big thanks go out to them for all their efforts and organization. Thanks for making this weekend happen! That’s all I got from Calgary…
